We're looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist with Payroll Tax experience to join our growing team and lead payroll operations across multiple states. What You’ll Do:
- Take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing for employees across various states on a semi-monthly basis.
- Manage payroll taxs including journal entries, deductions and multi state taxes.
- Handle calculations for wages, bonuses, and special pay, ensuring compliance with state-specific regulations for overtime, holiday, and leave pay.
- Partner with HR and Accounting teams to address employee pay questions, troubleshoot discrepancies, and ensure timely resolutions.
- Review, reconcile, and audit timesheets and payroll reports, escalating discrepancies where necessary.
- Produce regular and ad-hoc payroll reports for management and the Controller.
- Keep up-to-date with changing wage laws, tax requirements, and labor regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Oversee timesheet submissions and monitor deadlines to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support payroll operations related to government contracting employees.
What You Bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related discipline is preferred.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in payroll processing or payroll management.
- Strong track record working with multi-state payroll systems and compliance.
- Experience using payroll systems (iSolved experience is a major plus!).
- Familiarity with tax laws, labor codes, and general payroll best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to perform reconciliations and analyze payroll data.
- FPC or CPP certification preferred.
- Prior exposure to Unanet and government contract payroll a definite advantage.
- Excellent organizational skills, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Confident communicator who can maintain policy standards and support self-service initiatives.
- Capable of balancing multiple priorities while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
