Position Summary
The Water/Wastewater Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of treatment facilities and related systems. This role ensures optimal plant performance, regulatory compliance, equipment reliability, and high-quality service delivery while maintaining a strong focus on safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain equipment and machinery including valves, pumps, motors, belt presses, disinfection systems, production wells, and company vehicles.
- Perform routine testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of treatment processes and production wells.
- Accurately document plant performance data, including daily flow rates, chemical usage, and equipment maintenance records.
- Respond to emergency call-outs after hours to diagnose and repair pumps, motors, instrumentation, and other critical equipment.
- Maintain facility security, cleanliness, and grounds to ensure a safe and professional working environment.
- Train and mentor staff on operational procedures, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Provide professional customer service and communicate technical information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and support maintenance activities at the facility as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational goals.
- Maintain flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and on-call rotations as required.
Technical Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of water and wastewater treatment operations.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and operational instructions.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and internet-based systems.
Licenses & Certifications
- Class C (or higher) Water or Wastewater Operator's License required
- Valid Driver’s License required (CDL preferred).
- Additional certifications may be required based on site-specific needs.

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 4 years of experience in water and/or wastewater operations
