Description
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern supports Manufacturing Engineering activities to integrate, improve, and sustain manufacturing systems and processes, with a focus on extrusion processing, production, and validation. This role provides hands‑on exposure to continuous improvement, process optimization, and cross‑functional collaboration within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Actively promote and support a culture of safety.
- Support compliance with operational, quality, and customer requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with Manufacturing Engineering projects as assigned.
- Support Lean / Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in hands‑on process improvement activities, applying basic engineering concepts to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Support the Validation team in transitioning new programs to production, including manufacturing lines, secondary operations, and production planning.
- Assist in developing and maintaining manufacturing specifications and documentation, including work instructions and process guides.
- Work with Manufacturing to help communicate and reinforce key technical and process requirements.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to support product compliance and investigate quality concerns.
- Participate in NCR, CAPA, and Continuous Improvement meetings as required.
- Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams at the Pleasant Prairie site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an Engineering degree program (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related).
- Working knowledge of basic inspection and measurement equipment.
- Basic proficiency with PC‑based tools (e.g., Excel, documentation systems).
- Strong interest in manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, and problem solving.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Work performed in office, production, and warehouse environments.
- May work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and noise levels requiring hearing protection.
