What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specification Sales Representative position at Spectrum Lighting San Antonio?
Love the way light changes a room? So do we.
Spectrum Lighting San Antonio, LLC has been bringing great lighting to South Texas since 1990. We represent manufacturers from around the world, and our fixtures live in airports, hospitals, schools, stadiums, office towers, and just about every kind of building between New Braunfels and the border. We are growing, and we are looking for someone who wants to be the person architects, engineers, and lighting designers call when they want a project to look right.
This is not a cold calling job. This is a relationship and design job. You will spend your days in design studios, on job walks, in product trainings, and occasionally on a rooftop with a photometric plan arguing about glare. If that sounds like fun, keep reading.
What you will actually do
- Build real relationships with architects, electrical engineers, lighting designers, and interior designers across San Antonio and South Texas
- Help specifiers pick the right product from our linecard for their project, from a parking garage to a lobby chandelier
- Run lunch and learns, showroom visits, and product demos that people actually enjoy
- Review drawings and specs, and work with our quotes and project management teams to get your projects across the finish line
- Stay current on new products, controls, and lighting trends so you are the smartest person in the room about what is possible
- Represent Spectrum Lighting San Antonio, LLC at industry events, IES meetings, and the occasional happy hour
Who we are looking for
We are open to both newer professionals and seasoned specification pros. The title and compensation will match your experience.
Entry level: Maybe you studied architecture, interior design, electrical engineering, or lighting, or you have worked in a design firm, a distributor, or a manufacturer and want to move to the specification side. You are curious, organized, and comfortable talking to people. We will teach you the rest.
Advanced: You already know your way around a lighting schedule, you have specifier relationships in Texas, and you can walk into a design firm and be welcomed. You want a bigger territory, a stronger linecard, and a team that backs you up.
Either way, you should be:
- Someone who likes people and likes design
- Comfortable reading plans and specs, or eager to learn fast
- Organized enough to juggle a lot of projects at once
- Willing to be out of the office more than in it
- Based in or willing to relocate to the San Antonio area
Why Spectrum Lighting San Antonio, LLC
- 35 plus years in the market and a reputation specifiers trust
- A deep linecard that gives you a real answer for almost any application
- A full support team behind you: quotes, project management, controls, and spec support
- A culture that is competitive, collaborative, and not stuffy
- Benefits: health, 401k, PTO, etc.
