The opportunityWe’re growing our Lighting Controls Technician team and hiring at multiple levels—Entry-Level (Level I) and Experienced (Level II/III). If you’re handy with low-voltage wiring, love solving puzzles, and enjoy customer-facing field work, this role is for you.
What you’ll do- Install, start up, program, and commission commercial lighting control systems (wired and wireless)
- Read plans, risers, and submittals to verify device counts, addressing, and network topology
- Diagnose and resolve device, network, and integration issues (sensors, relays, gateways, BACnet/IP, timeclocks)
- Perform functional testing, sequence-of-operations checks, and create as-built documentation
- Train end users (facility teams, contractors) and provide turnover sign‑offs
- Coordinate with electrical contractors, distributors, reps, and manufacturers
- Close tickets in our service system and keep site notes/photos current
- (Level II/III) Lead small projects, mentor juniors, and support BMS/AV integration
Required (all levels):
- Aptitude low-voltage work; able to use a multimeter and basic hand tools
- Working knowledge of networking basics (IP addressing, PoE, VLAN basics, Wi‑Fi vs. mesh)
- Comfortable with laptops/software for device discovery, addressing, and firmware updates
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and clear, professional communication
- Valid driver’s license; ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders as needed
- Willingness to travel to job sites, sometimes overnight stays required
- Valid vehicle insurance
Preferred (nice to have):
- Experience with Acuity nLight, Lutron (Vive/Quantum), Crestron, Enlighted, Synapse, Wattstopper, Lithonia, Hubbell/Current, Cooper/Signify, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with NEC, commercial construction practices, and reading one-lines/riser diagrams
- Experience with BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, or BMS/AV integration
- OSHA‑10/30, TWIC, scissor lift certs, etc.
- Manufacturer certifications (attach or list in your resume)
Level guidelines:
- Level I (Entry) – 0–2 years in electrical/controls/IT or strong hobbyist background; training provided
- Level II/III (Experienced) – 3–7 years commissioning lighting controls or related (BAS, AV, security, networking)
- Typical hours Mon–Fri, with occasional early starts/after‑hours cutovers
- Day trips across the region with occasional overnights (10–25%) depending on project load
- Company laptop, software licenses, meters, and specialized commissioning tools
- Paid manufacturer training and certification pathways
- Clear career ladder from Level I → Senior Technician → Project Specialist/Engineer
