Full Job Description
The position of school secretary is needed for our Lorain branch of Spectrum Growth for a temporary period, and then the position will be transferred to Spectrum 2.0 in Elyria as a full time position. It is the responsibility of the school secretary to perform a variety of clerical, data entry, student file, and indirect school support duties, involving both specific routines and broadly defined tasks. Examples include but are not limited to: greeting and interacting with the public, collaborating with staff, students, and parents, coordinating tasks and deadline completions with the Secretary of the School, as well as performing other duties as assigned by the school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Perform a variety of clerical activities, including preparing routine correspondence, sorting and filing of records, documents, mail, and other materials.
- Assist with attendance, absence and tardy tracking; enter information into a proprietary student info system; generate lists, rosters and reports as needed.
- Enroll, add, transfer, or drop students according to established procedures; create student folders; verify residency and immunization information.
- Assist with health concerns as needed; provide basic first aid to ill or injured students administer medications and make appropriate to parents or guardians.
- Answer phones, greet and direct visitors, take and relay messages; provide routine information to students, parents or guardians.
- Assist in supervising students sent to the office for disciplinary or other reasons.
- Assist parents or guardians with free & reduced lunch applications.
- Maintain punctual and consistent attendance
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Strong organizational skills, highly detail oriented and consistent follow-through on assignments
- Requires ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Discretion, tact, and high regard for confidentiality required.
Education/Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of increasingly responsible clerical or secretarial experience, preferably in a K12 public school or public sector environment. Also a valid Ohio Driver's License and successful completion of Ohio and FBI background checks.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $29,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
