Lead the People Behind Exceptional Patient Care
Spectrum Eye Care is a growing, multi-location ophthalmology and optometry practice serving Northwest Ohio. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Director to lead our people strategy and strengthen recruitment, retention, employee engagement, compliance, and leadership development across the organization.
This is an on-site leadership role for a proactive HR professional who understands the pace, complexity, and service expectations of a healthcare environment. Healthcare human resources experience is strongly preferred.
What You'll Do
· Lead all human resources operations for a growing, multi-location healthcare organization.
· Partner with executive leadership to develop workforce strategies that support organizational goals and practice growth.
· Develop and execute recruitment strategies for clinical, administrative, and leadership positions.
· Build and maintain relationships with referring physicians, optometrists and other healthcare providers through proactive outreach, regular communication, and coordinated practice – development initiatives that support patient referrals and organizational growth.
· Strengthen employee retention through onboarding, engagement, recognition, career development, and leadership accountability.
· Serve as the organization's resource for employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, coaching, and workplace investigations.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and maintain current HR policies and procedures.
· Oversee compensation, benefits administration, performance evaluations, leave management, and employee records.
· Track and report HR metrics, including turnover, retention, vacancies, time-to-fill, attendance, and employee engagement.
· Lead organizational training and management development initiatives.
· Support department leaders with staffing plans, succession planning, corrective action, and team development.
· Maintain personnel files, and confidential documentation with accuracy and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
· Five or more years of progressive human resources experience, including leadership-level responsibility.
· Healthcare HR experience strongly preferred, including experience in a medical practice, hospital, ambulatory surgery center, long-term care, or similar setting.
· Strong knowledge of employment law, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management.
· Demonstrated success recruiting in a competitive labor market, particularly for healthcare or licensed clinical positions.
· Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
· High level of professionalism, confidentiality, judgment, and integrity.
· Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
· SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
