What are the responsibilities and job description for the Second Shift Manufacturing Lead position at Spectrum Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Inc.?
SECOND SHIFT MANUFACTURING LEAD
Spectrum AMT | Colorado Springs, CO
DEPARTMENT Operations
REPORTS TO Production Manager
STATUS Full-Time | On-Site | Immediate Opening
ABOUT THE ROLE
Spectrum AMT has been building high-reliability electronics for aerospace, defense, space, and medical markets for nearly 30 years. As we expand into a second shift, we need a Manufacturing Lead who knows the floor and keeps product moving. This is a hands-on, floor-based role — not a supervisory position. You’ll be responsible for ensuring product flows through second-shift production on time, that your teammates are clocked in and accounted for, and that anything blocking the line gets escalated fast.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Product Flow & Line Movement
- Track and move product through second-shift production cells (SMT, cable and wiring, final assembly, and inspection) ensuring work is progressing against schedule.
- Identify and escalate anything stopping or slowing production: missing materials, equipment issues, capacity gaps, or unclear work instructions.
- Ensure travelers, work orders, and production records are accurate and up to date throughout the shift.
- Communicate priorities to team members at shift start and as conditions change throughout the night.
Timekeeping & Attendance
- Verify that second-shift team members are clocked in at shift start and clocked out at shift end.
- Track attendance and flag absences, tardiness, or early departures to the appropriate manager promptly.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping records in support of payroll and operations reporting.
Quality & Workmanship
- Follow and reinforce Spectrum’s customer requirements (build to print) and IPC and NASA certifications.
- Flag non-conformances or quality concerns to Quality, Engineering, and Management teams for compliance and resolution.
- Maintain 6S standards and ESD protocols in your work area throughout the shift.
Cross-Shift Handoff
- Communicate clearly with day-shift leadership at the end of each shift.
- Ensure your area is set up for the incoming crew — no loose ends, materials staged, documentation current.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
COMPENSATION
- $25-$28 per hour
- Commensurate with experience.
HEALTH & SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and supplemental coverage for employees and dependents.
- Spectrum covers 75% of employee premiums and 50% of spouse/dependent premiums.
- Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following a 60-day waiting period.
RETIREMENT & PAID TIME OFF
- 401(k) with 100% company match on employee contributions up to 3% of gross wages. Immediate vesting. Eligible after 90 days of employment.
- 10 paid holidays per year.
- 10 days of accrued PTO per year during the first five years of employment, accrued bi-weekly.
- 6 paid sick days per year, available after the 90-day probationary period.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 2–7 years of experience in electronics manufacturing; aerospace, defense, medical, or space preferred.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: SMT, cable and wiring assembly, final assembly, or inspection.
- Working knowledge of IPC Class 3 standards and ESD protocols.
- Reliable, accountable, and focused — you show up, you pay attention, and you communicate when something’s wrong.
- Comfortable using an ERP/MRP system for basic production tracking and documentation.
- ITAR eligibility required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a full-time, on-site role at our Colorado Springs facility. The work environment is a professional electronics manufacturing floor — expect a mix of floor presence and administrative work, with frequent standing, walking, and hands-on engagement with production and inspection teams. Second-shift hours to be confirmed; some overlap with first-shift leadership is expected for handoff continuity.
WHY SPECTRUM?
For nearly 30 years, Spectrum has built a reputation for doing things right the first time, every time. Our work ends up in satellites, defense systems, and medical devices that cannot fail. We take that seriously — and we look for people who do too. If owning a shift, leading a team, and building something that matters resonates with you, you'll fit in well here.
