Job description

Spectrix's cell culture associate scientist will be responsible for all tissue culture related activities involved with delivering high quality cells to HTS scientists for use in HTS, assay development, technology evaluations, downstream triage assays and other objectives requiring delivery and maintenance of live cell cultures and or frozen cell banks . Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Actively splitting and passaging assigned cell lines

· Collaborating closely with Assay development scientist to optimize growth of cell lines to achieve performance and quantity goals

· Working with Assay development scientists to plan seeding schedule and harvest schedule to achieve delivery requirements

· Work closely with Assay development scientists to troubleshoot problematic cell lines and optimize growth conditions

· Keep cell culture notebook – ELN

· Ordering of media components required to grow / bank / deliver assigned cell lines

· Ordering of TC consumables required

· Sending out cell lines for pathogen and sterility testing

The Cell Culture Associate Scientist will work independently on assigned cell lines to: thaw, culture, expand, passage, prepare high density banks, and either deliver live cells or thaw previously banked frozen vials and deliver to assay development scientists for HTS related activities. The Cell Culture Associate Scientist will be responsible for ordering all media components required for assigned cell lines along with necessary consumables (Tissue Culture flasks, vials, etc.)

The goal of the Cell Culture Associate Scientist is to relieve the assay development scientist of time-consuming cell culture delivery commitments during an HTS. This will enable the assay development scientist to concentrate on Data QC, Assay development and reagent preparation for that days run, and shift the cell culture responsibility to the Cell Culture Associate Scientist.

Qualifications

· B.S. and/or M.S. in biochemistry, cell biology, or related areas are required.

· B.S. with 3 or more years of cell culture experience preferred

· Expertise with a variety of tissue culture vessels desired.

· Expertise growing engineered cell lines, primary cell lines, IPSC, organoid growth desired.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
