GL Accountant
Summary of Responsibilities
The GL Accountant has experience in full-cycle accounting, responsible for assisting in all areas of the accounting function, including, but not limited to month-end close processes for multi-entity organization processing journal entries, analyzing and reconciling accounts, bank reconciliations, Sales and Use Tax reporting and maintaining Fixed Asset schedules. .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for GL Accountant:
- Prepare and post journal entries: reversing, recurring and standard
- Prepares monthly reconciliations of various multi-currency bank accounts
- Reconcile monthly GL accounts for prepaid, accrued expense, and others
- Assist in providing month end financial information and/or research inquiries
- Analyzes and adjusts accounts (i.e. Fixed assets, cash, accrued expenses, etc.)
- Assist in monthly analysis comparing actual results to prior periods
- Assist in conducting accurate and timely month/quarter-end closings
- Process monthly Sales and Use Tax filings with 3rd party servicer
- Assist Senior Accounting staff members in general ledger activities
- Assist in data gathering for purposes of audits and other special projects
- Assist in supporting other functions such as AP and AR on as needed basis
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Basic knowledge of US GAAP
- Minimum 3 years as a Staff Accountant or GL Accountant
- Use of a general ledger system, including AR, AP & PR
- Researching and documenting account analysis
- Comfortable in an ERP system environment or familiarity with Oracle
- Experience working in multi-currency environment
- Strong excel skills
- Ability to interact effectively with multiple business areas
- Ability to work cooperatively and congenially with others in a team environment
- Self-starter with solid organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
