What are the responsibilities and job description for the M365 Engineer position at SPECTRAFORCE?
Title: Systems Engineer III - M365 Engineer
Location: Alpharetta, GA
Duration: 2-3 months
Extension is possible but unlikely as this is specifically funded backfill for a project which has been budgeted for.
The M365 Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Microsoft 365 (M365) environment. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of M365 services, enhance productivity, and contribute to the overall success of our global IT infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement advanced M365 solutions, including but not limited to Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Security & Compliance features.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient M365 solutions.
- Lead migrations and upgrades of M365 services, ensuring minimal impact on end-users and business operations.
- Provide third-level support for M365-related incidents, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to maintain a stable and secure environment.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and Microsoft 365 updates to recommend and implement improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate, or equivalent certifications.
- Proven experience 7 years working with Microsoft 365 in enterprise environments, with a focus on design and implementation. (3-5 years in M365 specifically)
- Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation and administration tasks. Using these skills in a Devops role is a must
- Expertise in configuring and managing Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and related services.
- In-depth knowledge of M365 security and compliance features.
- Experience with M365 migration projects, including hybrid environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and project management methodologies.
Preferred Skills:
- Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals.
- Experience with third-party M365 management tools.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and related services.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards relevant to the industry.
- Experience with Github and script repositories
- Power BI experience, generating usage and other various reports through Power BI

About the Team: The M365 team provide technical admin and support to the entire business as well as technical consultation for stategic architecture and to the wider client groups with whom we share the O365 tenant
Top 3 must-have skills:
- MS Exchange Online management in a hybrid AD architecture. Very strong AD / Entra ID knowledge
- Security policies and governance
- Great communication, stakeholder management and major incident handling
Interview process: 2 Interviews, both with Manager and a senior engineer from the existing team. Interviews will be virtual calls (MS Teams)
