Job description:

Basic Function

The Behavior Support Consultant-Level 1 designs and oversees the overall care and the implementation of

Behavior Support Plans for individuals served in the Community and Day Programs.

Description

This is a Full-time, non-exempt, employee position. Travel is required and non-commuting mileage is reimbursed at the IRS annual rate per mile. Required is a valid Driver’s License and access to a registered and insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for implementation of agency’s mission and adherence to its core values.

2. Provides training, mentorship, and crisis intervention to Direct Support Professionals by:

a. Initial and ongoing training of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in the BSP to ensure

accurate and effective implementation of the Behavior Support Plan.

b. Modeling interactions with program participants to DSPs to increase their skill sets in

implementing the Behavior Support Plan.

c. Establishing rapport with DSPs data for plan revisions and advocate for participant’s needs and

desires.

3. Conducts Functional Behavior Analysis for identified individuals at intake and annually thereafter.

4. Collaborates in writing full Behavior Support Plans for individuals at intake and annually thereafter.

5. Gathers Behavioral data and complete monthly and quarterly reporting for individuals served.

6. Provides crisis intervention as necessary to support participants and DSPs. Uses the least restrictive emergency procedure when necessary to protect the individual from injuring self or others. Follows intervention policies and regulations. Ensures ODP unusual incident standards are understood and followed.

7. Ensures all regulatory requirements are met including compliance with the Office of Dev. Programs (ODP) regulations, Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPPA) and all local/state/federal regulations including program qualification site monitoring.

8. Attends required staff meetings and training.

9. Documents all notes in electronic record system “Therap” within 24 hours.

10. Participates in supervision with a Behavior Specialist Consultant, Level II (Master’s Level Specialist).

11. Responsible for making referrals to referral services when appropriate.

12. Positively and professionally represents Spectra at appropriate venues.

13. Other duties as assigned.

Education/Training/Experience

One of the following:

1. A master’s degree or above from an accredited college or university and 1 year’s work experience

working directly with people with developmental disabilities.

2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years’ work or volunteer experience

working directly with people with developmental disabilities.

As well as:

3. Valid Driver’s License and access to a registered and insured vehicle (required).

4. Experience writing and/or implementing Behavior Support plans (preferred).
