Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. This role requires a strong understanding of early childhood education principles and the ability to implement engaging curriculum activities that promote learning through play.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards.
• Manage classroom activities effectively, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Observe and assess children's progress, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
• Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their social skills and emotional growth.
• Communicate regularly with parents about their child's development and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and share best practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom space conducive to learning.
• Stay updated on best practices in childhood development and early education methodologies.

Experience

• A degree in Early Childhood Education is required.
• Proven experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational or childcare setting.
• Strong skills in classroom management and lesson planning.
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and child welfare practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Familiarity with curriculum development strategies tailored for young learners is a plus.

Position Requirements:

The successful UPK Teacher candidate possesses:

• Experience or high interest to work with preschoolers
• Familiarity with all facets of Preschool Special Education
• Experience with preschoolers within a classroom setting
• New York State Teaching Certification, Birth to Grade 2
• Professional and Personal References required

Candidates may have a bachelors in Early Education.

• 30 hours of Training within 6 months
• Developing a curriculum with director and other lead Teachers/ other teaching assistants
• Be part of a team to create the best environment for the children served.
• Prepping lessons and activities
• Preparing report cards and social skill sheets
• Daily attendance
• Room assigned job duties
• Work with Team members
• Attend events not at scheduled shift times hosted by Speckled Frog.
• Cleaning and disinfecting throughout your shift completing ALL list daily
• Completing OCFS required training.
• Completing OCFS required documentation.
• Attending ALL staff meetings
• Lifting
• Cleaning
• Reporting repairs
• Fixing items noticed damaged when possible
• Keeping, cleaning, preparing a classroom
• Abiding by all OCFS regulations and having knowledge of them or where to find information
• Abiding by the employee handbook
• Completing required paperwork on time/and documentation as required
• Emailing parents as needed and one time per weekly update
• Open house events as scheduled per year
• Parent teacher conferences as needed
• Attending Center events
• Current Medical form on file at all times
• Arrive 10 minutes before the start of shift to the classroom.

Training Requirements

• Complete assigned trainings

• Training documentation is due quarterly as outlined in the handbook.
• Employees under one year of employment (in their first contracted year) are required to repay half of any/ all training paid, expenses paid for training, and the full 25.00 for the SCR clearance.

Employment Qualifications

(a) Staff members must be qualified by training and experience to carry out their respective functions in the administration, operation and maintenance of the child day care center.

(1) Staff and volunteers must be mature, of good character and possess suitable personal qualifications.

(2) Staff and volunteers must be in good physical and mental health and have the energy and emotional stability necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of their positions.

(b) Child day care centers must review and evaluate the backgrounds of all applicants for staff and volunteer positions. All applicants whose backgrounds must be checked are required to provide the following:

(1) a statement or summary of the applicant's employment history including, but not limited to, any relevant child-caring experience.

(2) the names, addresses and daytime telephone numbers of at least two acceptable references, other than relatives, at least one of whom can verify employment history, work record and qualifications, and at least one of whom can attest to the applicant's character, habits and personal qualifications to be a childcare center staff member.

(3) a sworn statement by the applicant indicating whether, to the best of the applicant's knowledge, such applicant has ever been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony in New York State or any other jurisdiction and fingerprint images as required to comply with the requirements.

(4) Creating lesson plans, organizing a classroom, providing structure, parent conferences, and administrative duties as needed per class.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $25.38 per hour
