Role Description
We're seeking a Product Design Intern who will support the Product Development and Industrial Engineering team in designing and prototyping new products. This role involves assisting with CAD modeling, prototype assembly, and design validation activities. The intern will gain exposure to mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and product lifecycle development.
This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Somerville, NJ.
What You'll Do:
- Assist in creating and updating 3D models and technical drawings using CAD tools (SolidWorks or similar).
- Support prototype fabrication and assembly, ensuring designs meet functional and quality requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on manufacturability and cost optimization.
- Help document design changes and maintain engineering records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address design challenges and improve product performance.
- Assist in testing prototypes and analyzing results to validate design specifications.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to product design and development.
Education
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant coursework in mechanical design, materials, or manufacturing processes.
Experience
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Interest in prototyping, testing, and hands‑on engineering work.
- Previous internship or project experience in product design or manufacturing (preferred).
- Basic understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis (preferred).
- Knowledge of safety and compliance standards is a plus.

- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and contribute in a collaborative engineering environment.
Working Conditions
- May occasionally visit other company locations or suppliers with the supervision of full time engineers.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
