Specialty Pain Management Services (SPMS) is now hiring contract physical therapists for home-based outpatient services in Howard County, Maryland. SPMS is a private therapy company composed of physical and occupational therapists. We are the 2024 recipients of the Innovation Award by the National Board of Occupational Therapists and the Recognition of Excellence Award from the Maryland Occupational Therapy Association for our unique and impactful approach to pain management. As a member of our team, you will have the ability to set your own schedule and work at your own pace. No pain management experience necessary, however an interest in pain management is a must and specialized pain management training is provided during the (paid) orientation period. You will become an expert in chronic pain management and with assisting our patients to live more independently, comfortably, and with a higher quality of life!
Please note: This position requires travel and use a personal device for point of service documentation. Territory assignment is based on need as well as the location of the therapist. This position may require the therapist to provide telehealth services as well; all interested applicants must be able to provide these services in a secure location. Employment does not guarantee hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient evaluations, treatments, re-evaluations, and discharges following EMR (electronic medical record) documentation best practices.
- Administer and interpret standardized tests to determine patient function and intervention outcomes.
- Communicate regularly with the supervisor and other members of the patient's treatment team.
- Independently plan and implement your own working schedule. This requires clear communication and coordination with the patient and/or their family members.
- Completion of mandatory training including yearly code of conduct and compliance training as indicated.
- Must maintain productivity standards and expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctor's degree of an accredited physical therapy curriculum
- Certification in Physical Therapy and valid state license to practice
- Current CPR/BLS on file
Experience
- Minimum 1-year experience in the outpatient or home health setting preferred.
- Familiarity with modern pain management concepts including non-invasive or alternative therapeutic intervention options preferred.
- Experience with EMR preferred.
Clinical Skills and Abilities
- Strong clinical reasoning skills including interpretation of standardized assessments and application of appropriate and effective treatments/interventions.
- Strong communication skills: this role will require the therapist to initiate communication with multiple entities including the patient, patient family members/caregivers, physician, members of the treatment team, and the supervisor.
- Excellent written communication skills and basic familiarity with computers.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in order to meet productivity goals.
Additional Job Requirements
- Must hold and maintain valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must provide personal device (i.e., laptop) for point of service documentation.
- Use of personal device for point of service documentation.
- Must be willing/able to oversee PTAs by completing evaluations and subsequent progress notes for assigned patients while providing indirect supervision.
