Description:Position Summary:At Gem Manufacturing, the Degrease Machine Technician plays a critical role in ensuring product cleanliness and quality by operating, monitoring, and maintaining degreasing equipment. This position is responsible for safely processing parts through the degreasing line, verifying cleanliness standards, and supporting overall production flow. The Heat-treating operator is responsible for putting parts in the oven and packing after they are complete. Essential Functions:To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each stated essential function, with or without reasonable accommodation. Key Responsibilities:1. Operate Degreasing Equipment A. Set up, operate, and monitor degreasing machines according to established procedures. B. Load and unload parts into the degrease unit safely and efficiently. C. Monitor machine performance, temperature, chemical levels, and cycle quality. D. Notify Maintenance or Supervision of any abnormalities, malfunctions, or safety concerns.2. Operate Heat Treating Ovens A. Set up, operate, and monitor ovens according to established procedures. B. Load and unload parts into the oven unit safely and efficiently. C. Monitor machine performance, temperature, and cycle quality. D. Notify Maintenance or Supervision of any abnormalities, malfunctions, or safety concerns.3. Ensure Cleanliness and Product Quality A. Conduct in-process inspections and cleanliness checks per control plans. B. Verify that all parts meet required cleanliness and appearance standards before release. C. Identify and report contamination, residue, or other quality issues to the Quality department. D. Follow GEM policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to chemical handling.4. Maintain Production Flow A. Move processed product to the next operation and document those tasks as required. B. Maintain accurate logs, tags, and production records related to degreasing operations. C. Assist with material handling, staging, and inventory of parts awaiting degreasing. D. Ensure 6S practices are consistently applied throughout the work area.5. Equipment Cleaning and Care A. Clean and maintain degreasing machines, filtration systems, and surrounding workstations. B. Assist with basic lubrication and upkeep of machine components as instructed. C. Support chemical changeovers, fluid testing, and routine equipment checks. D. Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of degreasing chemicals and waste. E. Clean and maintain ovens. Requirements:Position Qualifications and Competency Statements:ü Ability to be a team playerü Ability to communicate effectively.Skills and Abilities:ü High School Diploma and/or equivalent.ü Experience with deep draw and progressive manufacturing a plus.ü Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. ü Able to use hand trucks and other equipment to aid in moving product to next operation.ü Must be able to use and read calipers, micrometers, dial gages, etc. to ensure product meets customer’s specifications.Work Environment:This position involves working in a manufacturing environment that is adjacent to the shop work environment. The employee must be aware of potential hazards, including, but not limited to, working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, operating vehicles, exposure to electrical current, high temperatures, and chemicals. It's important to maintain a high level of alertness and caution while performing tasks in this work environment.
