Maintenance Mechanic - High School Co-op

SUMMARY

The Maintenance Mechanic Youth Co-op position is designed to give students hands-on experience with inspecting, repairing, and maintaining powered industrial equipment. The co-op will assist experienced mechanics in performing preventive and reactive maintenance on industrial and mobile equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world tasks in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Assists in the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of various equipment.

• Perform welding repairs and fabrications.

• Apply techniques learned in school to mechanical and welding tasks.

• Help repair equipment and replace defective parts under the supervision of a qualified technician.

• Perform cleaning, lubrication, and other necessary maintenance work.

• Complete additional tasks as assigned by senior mechanics.

• Ensure proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of the inner workings of industrial equipment and welding.

• Age 18 and enrolled in an accredited technical high school or technical high school program in mechanical and/or welding.

Working Conditions:

• Frequently exposed to loud noise, dirt, and grease while repairing equipment.

• Required to work outdoors in all environments daily.

• Frequent hot work and occasional confined space work.

• Use hands to feel and grasp

• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
