Position Summary
Specialty Foundation Systems is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Technician to support the installation and verification of aggregate piers, and other ground improvement systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that foundation elements are installed in accordance with project specifications, engineering requirements, and company quality standards.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, strong math and computer skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to travel to active construction sites. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and document aggregate pier and ground improvement installation activities.
- Collect, verify, and record production data including:
- Pier depth
- Pier diameter
- Aggregate quantities
- Installation energy
- Production rates
- Elevations and locations
- Perform field measurements and calculations to verify compliance with project specifications.
- Utilize GPS, tablets, computers, and specialized software to document installation data.
- Prepare daily quality control reports and communicate results to project managers and engineers.
- Assist with pre-construction planning and layout verification.
- Review project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
- Coordinate with field crews, superintendents, contractors, and engineers.
- Maintain calibration and proper operation of quality control equipment.
- Support internal audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Follow all company safety policies and participate in safety meetings and training.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong math skills, including basic algebra, geometry, and calculations.
- Proficiency with computers, tablets, spreadsheets, and data-entry software.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work on projects throughout the United States.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred
- Experience in construction, surveying, materials testing, quality control, or geotechnical engineering.
- Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience using GPS equipment, total stations, or construction layout tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and digital reporting systems.
- Associate degree or coursework in engineering technology, construction management, surveying, or a related field.
