Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager
The FSQA Manager is responsible for planning, leading and maintaining food safety and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines at Indiana Packers Corporation. This role provides leadership to food safety and quality staff, oversees sanitation and quality processes within a meat processing environment, conducts audits and corrective actions, and develops training related to food safety procedures. This position utilizes HACCP, GMP, and other industry standards to reduce food safety risks, support continuous improvement, and ensure products consistently meet established quality and food safety expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Owns the SQF Audit preparation process and preparation.
- Maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
- Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
- Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
- Effectively leads the operation's sanitation contractor to maintain sanitary and food safe conditions.
- Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
- Conducts shelf-life studies.
- Tracks and addresses customer complaints and report findings to corporate on a monthly basis.
- Maintain WPR, DLM, and BRM charts
- Is knowledgeable of and is the effective operations leader for GFSI, such as SQF.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or
- Associate's degree with 10 years of relevant experience, or
- 12 years of progressive experience in quality assurance or food safety (in lieu of degree)
- HACCP certification preferred
- SQF Practitioner certification preferred
- Must be available to work overtime, weekends and holidays as required for a 24 hr. operation.
- Must have strong leadership capabilities with excellent communication skills, allowing for positive working relationships within close working environments.
