Experience:
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all dental instruments, equipment, and tools in accordance with infection control procedures and regulatory standards.
- Operate sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and other tools used for sterilization.
- Ensure sterilization processes are completed efficiently and thoroughly, maintaining accurate records of sterilization cycles and documentation.
- Regularly inspect sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning and promptly report any issues for maintenance or repair.
- Follow proper protocols for handling and disposal of contaminated materials, including gloves, gauze, and other medical waste.
- Maintain an organized sterilization area and ensure all necessary supplies are stocked, including disinfectants, sterilizing agents, and packaging materials.
- Monitor inventory levels of sterilization-related supplies and notify the office manager when additional supplies are needed.
- Ensure sterilized instruments and equipment are stored appropriately and are easily accessible for clinical staff.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on sterilization equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and report any malfunctions.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards and HIPAA compliance, to maintain a sterile, safe environment.
- Maintain strict compliance with the dental office’s infection control policies, ensuring all staff follows proper sterilization and safety procedures.
- Regularly review sterilization and infection control procedures to stay up to date with industry best practices and regulations.
- Work closely with dental assistants, hygienists, and other clinical staff to ensure that all instruments and equipment are available and ready for patient procedures.
- Assist in the proper disposal of biohazardous materials following office protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures in a clinical environment is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures precisely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with sterilization equipment and procedures.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies as needed
