Line Worker

Job Summary

The Scale Room Line Worker is responsible for assisting in the packaging of finished products in an efficient and organized manner to assure that finished products are packaged and prepared for shipment. Individuals in this department must have a close attention to detail and be able to apply it in a high paced environment.

Reporting relationships:

• Directly supervised by the Scale Room Supervisor for their shift.
• Indirectly supervised by the Scale Room Manager, the Packaging Manager, and the Operations Manager

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Set up the scales before their shift and between vats
• Weigh finished product and applied labels produced by the scale
• Pack products into a box and palatize finished boxes
• Prepare supplies ahead of the shift
• Resupply the machines with tape, paper, labels, tickets, and other supplies as necessary. Assemble boxes for packaging as necessary.
• Maintain information about customers organized using reference materials
• Inspect finished products before final boxing, removing contaminated or incorrectly packaged products from the line and returning them to their appropriate location
• Maintain organized labels on individual boxes and pallets.
• Verify label and expiration dates. Verify pallet tags. Verify that boxes of finished product are correctly organized and that the boxes are undamage

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

• Position is entry level, no previous experience required.
• Past experience in either a manufacturing environment or in food service of any kind is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• This position is performed standing. Individual must be able to stand for at least 4 hours consecutively.
• This position requires that the individual lift objects which weigh up to 50 lbs. regularly, including above waist height.
• This position is performed in an environment where the individual can be exposed to hazardous chemicals. Employee will be provided with adequate training before performing tasks which involve chemicals.
• This position is performed in an environment where slips, trips and falls may be a hazard. Employee will be required to maintain adequate footwear provided by the company.
