Job description:

Role Overview

As a 2nd Shift Electrical Technician, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

This position requires the ability to diagnose electrical problems, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, interpret electrical documentation, and troubleshoot PLCs, automation equipment, and motor-control systems.

The ideal candidate will have industrial electrical experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and experience working safely in a manufacturing environment.

Shift: 2nd shift

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance and Repair:

  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical failures and determine the appropriate corrective action.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, circuits, controls, and related components.
  • Complete electrical repairs efficiently to reduce production downtime.
  • Inspect and test equipment to verify safe and proper operation.

Automation and Controls:

  • Maintain, program, and troubleshoot PLCs and other automation systems.
  • Diagnose problems involving motor controls and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Interpret and apply schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, retrofits, and new installations.
  • Support improvements intended to increase equipment reliability and performance.
  • Work with production and maintenance personnel to resolve equipment problems.

Documentation and Safety:

  • Document electrical maintenance activities in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
  • Follow electrical safety protocols and established quality standards.
  • Comply with lockout/tagout and other required safety procedures.
  • Communicate equipment conditions, repair status, and follow-up needs.
  • Perform additional duties that may vary by location.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical or vocational training in electrical systems, electronics, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment required.
  • One to three years of experience with PLCs, automation systems, or motor controls preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Strong understanding of motor-control systems.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety protocols.
  • Good communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with PLC programming and diagnostics.
  • Ability to work independently and respond to production equipment failures.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • PLC certification preferred.
  • Electrical certification preferred.
