Assistant Finance Director
This is a strategic leadership-track role designed for a professional ready to manage municipal fiscal operations and eventually transition into the Director role. The position requires a deep understanding of public sector finance and the ability to analyze the long-term fiscal impacts of city growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the coordination of annual external audits and ensure strict compliance with GASB standards and state regulations.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, investment reports, and bank reconciliations.
- Manage the financial administration of Public Improvement Districts (PIDs) and Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones (TIRZ).
- Assist in overseeing city investments, bond issuances, and debt service schedules.
- Collaborate with Department Heads to develop and monitor the annual operating and capital budgets.
- Supervise finance department staff, ensuring accuracy in payroll, accounts payable, and utility billing operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Public Administration.
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting or high-level municipal finance.
- Proven expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Texas municipal law.
- Advanced proficiency in computerized accounting systems and financial modeling.
Compensation
- Salary: $90,000 per year.
