Senior Civil Engineer

Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join a civil engineering consulting firm in the Durham, NC area focused on site development projects for public and private clients across the Southeast.

As a Senior PE, you would lead civil site development projects from proposal through delivery, build client relationships, and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities Include:

• Manage one or more civil site development projects for a diverse portfolio of public and private clients.
• Prepare and oversee construction drawings for water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Lead proposal preparation and fee development to support business growth.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams.
• Visit client offices, job sites, and consultant locations to support project execution and business development.
• Oversee engineering work and ensure it aligns with project objectives and company standards.
• Monitor project performance using Vantagepoint, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop engineers and technicians.
• Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to clients and leadership.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Significant experience in civil engineering design and project management.
• Extensive experience managing civil site development projects in a consulting environment, including residential, commercial, and/or industrial site plans.
• A strong understanding of civil site design, including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, preferably Civil 3D.
• A track record of business development and client relationship management.
• Experience leading and mentoring teams.
• An understanding of business financial metrics and project performance.
• The ability to manage multiple complex assignments, prioritize workflow, and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication.
