The Specialized Recruiting Group is partnering with a well-established general contractor to hire a Project Engineer for an exciting multifamily construction project in the Charlotte area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional looking to gain hands-on field experience while working alongside an experienced project team.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Documentation & Layout
- Review construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Document existing site conditions and project progress.
- Verify layouts for upcoming work activities.
Quality Control
- Inspect work to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Monitor workmanship and material quality.
- Track deficiencies and punch list items.
- Coordinate required testing and inspections, including concrete, soils, structural steel, and fireproofing.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
- Support superintendents with daily field operations.
- Manage RFIs, design clarifications, and field issues.
- Participate in coordination and progress meetings.
Scheduling & Production Support
- Track production quantities and project progress.
- Identify schedule impacts and assist with look-ahead planning.
- Monitor manpower and equipment utilization.
Safety
- Participate in site safety inspections.
- Promote compliance with company safety standards.
- Assist with incident documentation, corrective actions, and safety meetings.
Cost Control
- Track installed quantities.
- Assist with change order documentation.
- Verify subcontractor work completed.
- Support pay application and billing processes.
Technology & Reporting
- Maintain project management platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Build, or Primavera.
- Prepare daily reports, progress photos, and as-built documentation.
- Utilize field technology, including drones, laser scanners, GPS, and surveying equipment, when applicable.
Typical Day
- Participate in morning subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Walk the jobsite to inspect ongoing work.
- Answer field questions and support construction crews.
- Process RFIs and submittals.
- Coordinate inspections and testing.
- Update project logs and daily reports.
Multifamily Project Experience
On this multifamily project, responsibilities will include:
- Tracking unit turnover progress.
- Verifying framing, drywall, and MEP rough-ins.
- Coordinating inspections.
- Managing punch lists.
- Measuring quantities for concrete, framing, drywall, and finish work.
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
