What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sex Offender Evaluator position at Specialized Forensic Unit PC?
The Sex Offender Evaluator will be responsible for conducting sex offender or psychosexual evaluations on juveniles and adults. Examinations are most reliable and beneficial when evaluators adhere to ethical practice, incorporate multiple sources of information, use research supported methodologies, and strive to engage clients in the assessment process.
Responsibilities
· Examinations consist of sexual risk assessment and individual interview
· Review of records include arrest records, court documents, psychiatric and medical records, personal history, criminal history, sexual history, medical and psychiatric history, educational, employment history and other relevant history,
· Mental status examinations and diagnoses
· Written report includes summary of opinions provided to a degree of reasonable psychological/psychiatric certainty.
· Consultation to involved lawyers including preparing cases for hearings/trials.
Qualifications
- Master's or doctoral degree in mental health (psychology, counseling, social work, or similar disciplines) from an accredited institution
- Licensed as a LPC, LSW, LCPC, LCSW, or clinical psychologist in the state in Illinois (required)
- Sex Offender Evaluator Licensure LSOE (preferred)
Skills
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, forensic mental health, and substance abuse treatment
- Minimum of two years’ experience conducting sex offender or other forensic evaluations.
- One (1) year of professional experience examining medical, social, sexual and criminal history/records to determine whether the person meets criteria for SVP commitment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with staff and clients
