The Academic Coordinator serves as the instructional, operational, and cultural leader of the school, responsible for creating a high-performing, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment. This role is accountable for the academic achievement, social-emotional development, and overall well-being of all students while ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, values, and performance expectations.

The Academic Coordinator leads and develops staff, oversees daily operations, promotes a positive school climate, strengthens family and community partnerships, and ensures systems are in place to provide individualized academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports for every student

Responsibilities

What You Can Expect to Do

Instructional Leadership

  • Establish and communicate a clear instructional vision focused on academic excellence, equity, and student growth.
  • Oversee the implementation of curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment systems that support differentiated learning and student success.
  • Use academic, behavioral, attendance, and engagement data to monitor student progress and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead professional learning, coaching, and instructional feedback to strengthen teacher effectiveness and instructional quality.
  • Ensure individualized educational programming aligns with students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.

Student Support, School Culture & Climate

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive school culture grounded in high expectations, respect, and belonging.
  • Lead school-wide implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), restorative practices, trauma-informed care, and social-emotional learning initiatives.
  • Develop systems that proactively identify students needing additional academic, behavioral, or emotional support and ensure timely intervention.
  • Support staff in implementing individualized behavior support plans and restorative practices.
  • Promote meaningful student relationships through mentoring initiatives, student recognition programs, and opportunities for student voice.
  • Oversee systems for attendance, behavior management, crisis response, and student engagement.
  • Ensure students receive appropriate interventions through collaboration with teachers, counselors, related service providers, and support staff.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain high-quality educators and support professionals.
  • Conduct observations, evaluations, coaching conversations, and performance feedback aligned with organizational goals.
  • Build leadership capacity by mentoring emerging leaders and delegating meaningful responsibilities.
  • Foster collaboration across instructional, behavioral, and student support teams to ensure coordinated services for students.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Build trusting partnerships with families through proactive, transparent communication and ongoing collaboration.
  • Participate in family conferences, student support meetings, and IEP/504 meetings while ensuring families remain active partners in student success.
  • Connect students and families with appropriate school-based and community resources.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations to expand opportunities and support services for students.
  • Represent the school with district leaders, community stakeholders, and organizational partners.

Operations & Program Management

  • Oversee daily school operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and student-focused learning environment.
  • Manage school budgets, staffing, facilities, instructional resources, and operational priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including special education, civil rights, health and safety, and organizational policies.
  • Monitor school-wide academic, behavioral, and operational data to inform planning and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee student records, behavior documentation, reporting systems, and program compliance.
  • Coordinate school events, student programs, schedules, and operational logistics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of student success and organizational excellence.

Qualifications

What We Expect of You

  • Master's degree in Education, School Leadership, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in instructional leadership, school operations, staff development, and culture building.
  • Experience working with students with special needs, alternative education populations, or other at-risk student groups preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of PBIS, restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches, and data-driven instructional improvement.
  • Deep commitment to educational equity, inclusion, and student achievement.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners while creating a positive, student-centered school culture.

Posted Salary Range

USD $70,000.00 - USD $80,000.00 /Yr.
