Specialists in Rehabilitation Medicine (SIRM) is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our growing team in Rochester, MI.
Position Summary
The Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, ensuring coding compliance, and supporting reimbursement efforts. This position works closely with providers and billing staff to improve documentation accuracy and resolve coding-related claim issues.
Responsibilities
- Review and code patient encounters accurately and timely.
- Assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on provider documentation.
- Identify and resolve coding and documentation discrepancies.
- Review coding-related claim denials and assist with corrections and resubmissions.
- Conduct coding audits and ensure compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a coding resource for providers and staff.
- Assist with training and education regarding coding guidelines.
- Perform other billing and coding duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical coding experience preferred.
- CPC, CCS, or related coding certification preferred.
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and medical terminology.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
