What you would do
Typical responsibilities could include:
- Developing, implementing and monitoring safety management plans aligned with regulatory standards and project timelines
- Conducting site audits, safety inspections and incident investigations to identify hazards and non-compliance
- Leading safety training and toolbox talks with site teams and contractors to reinforce safe practices and compliance
- Coordinating with project managers on construction sequencing to integrate safety protocols at each phase
- Managing safety documentation, permits, incident reporting and regulatory submissions
- Liaising with external safety auditors, health and safety authorities and insurance partners
- Supporting budget control and cost management by identifying efficiency gains and reducing safety-related incidents and delays
- Mentoring and guiding site-based teams on best practices and continuous improvement
What you could bring
Most roles of this type require the following:
Must-have
- 5–10 years of experience in construction safety, site safety management or occupational health and safety
- Current SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification or equivalent
- First Aid certification
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, building codes and construction safety standards
- Proficiency with safety management systems and incident reporting software
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across multiple levels
- Proven ability to work independently and coordinate across field and office-based teams
- Authorization to work in the United States
Nice-to-have
- Background or degree in Engineering or Occupational Safety
- NEBOSH qualifications or additional safety certifications
- Experience managing safety on large-scale or complex construction projects
- Familiarity with budget management and cost control in a construction environment
