Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning and thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs)
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
- Experience supporting children with SEND (in a school or similar setting)
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, TA qualification) are desirable but not essential
