Performs skilled work in preparing metal and other surfaces on automotive vehicles for painting and in applying lacquers, primers, synthetic enamels, polyurethane, and epoxy with spray guns and other auto painting equipment to automotive and construction equipment; and does related work.An Auto Painter is responsible for proper preparation of surfaces and application of painting materials to a variety of exterior surfaces. The work of an employee in this class is distinguished from that of other journey level painter classes by the fact that the work primarily involves the painting of automotive vehicles. An employee in this class does not usually erect scaffolds and platforms but may work at heights of up to 30 feet. An Auto Painter spends a substantial portion of the work time spray painting. The duties may also require that an employee wear a mask, fresh air breathing apparatus or other safety equipment as needed, when working with paint products emitting hazardous vapors.

Skills and Qualifications
5 years of auto body collision and paint repair experience required

• Must be able to work overtime and weekends when needed.
• Collision painter graduate preferred
• I-CAR certification or Sikkens or Water training preferred
• Must have a high school diploma/GED
• Must be very quality oriented - working on brand new vehicles.
• History of working independently and in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized, able to handle multiple concurrent assignments
• Reliable work history, attendance and punctuality
• Must have valid driver's license
• Must have dependable transportation
• Must pass a criminal background check
• Must pass a drug test screening
• Speak English
• Complete body repairs, including masking, sanding, and grinding
• Apply primer
• Remove and replace parts
• Repair plastic and substrate damage
• Post-paint refinish and defect correction
• Ensure that all vehicles meet shop quality standards
• Maintain, repair, and clean special equipment

Work EnvironmentYou will work in well-ventilated and well-lit repair shops. May also require that an employee wear a mask, fresh air breathing apparatus or other safety equipment as needed, when working with paint products emitting hazardous vapors.
Work SchedulesNormal work schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however actual schedule is dictated by volume of repairs.
Compensation: Compensation is based on experience and performance, this will be discussed with the Shop Manager. This is a full time position.

• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in auto body repair, auto painting, and detailing.
• Skilled in the use of power tools, hand tools, and auto body repair equipment including airless paint sprayers.
• Experience with auto estimating software and customer service interactions is advantageous.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during vehicle repairs or parts handling.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and auto restoration processes is a plus.
• Prior mechanic experience or familiarity with vehicle maintenance enhances your ability to deliver top-quality work. Join us in delivering exceptional vehicle transformations!
