PURPOSE
The Columbia Public School District is seeking a Site Administrator for the Quest South program at Bethel Street Center. The Quest South program supports secondary students with disabilities who have intensive behavioral disorders and require small group instruction in a highly structured setting with an increased adult to student ratio. The administrator shall be committed to achievement, enrichment, and opportunities for all learners. The administrator shall have the responsibility for planning, administering, coordinating, implementing, supervising and evaluating all educational activities. The administrator will create a climate of trust and respect among all stakeholders in a manner that values their strengths and enhances progress toward goals.
Candidates must be willing to become certified in Safe Crisis Management.
This is a one-year appointment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The Administrator will conduct the following administrative responsibilities:
- Develop goals, objectives, and priorities for Bethel that align with district-wide goals and initiatives.
- Collaborate with teachers to design data collection systems, analyze student data, and develop behavioral intervention programs to support students and teachers.
- Collaborates with District Staff to transition students in/out of the Quest-South Program.
- Provides leadership planning on fundamentals of classroom management, school-wide positive behavioral reinforcement systems and elective behavioral intervention strategies.
- Keep up to date on elective strategies in trauma-informed practices, student behavioral management interventions and behavioral strategies.
- Maintain positive community, student and parent relations that promote active engagement based upon authentic partnerships and proactive communication.
- Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service and learning.
- Supervise and support personnel and oversee operations at the building level.
- Hire and supervise all teachers and students in a manner that recognizes and honors Bethel’s culture, while promoting growth.
- Support and conduct informal and formal evaluations of teaching and support students based upon frequent classroom observations to promote continuous learning and improvement of professional practice.
- Build relationships and practices that maintain a safe, productive culture with fair disciplinary policies for all.
- Oversee compliance with district policies.
- Oversee use of facility, scheduling classes and activities.
- Manage and monitor the budget for the school.
- Understand and adhere to Board policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

Reports To: Director of Special Services
Supervises: Quest certificated and non-certificated staff in the Bethel building
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum: Master’s degree in School Administration, Missouri Principal Certificate and clear evidence of successful classroom teaching experience. Ability to receive career certification for administration. Must be eligible to obtain career certification in appropriate time.
Preferred: Educational Specialist or Doctorate
