Job Goal(s):
The overall job goal of the Intervention Specialist is to work with a team of consultants to
assist Local Educational Agencies in Van Buren County in providing individualized supports to maintain a safe, positive and effective environment for all students.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School diploma required
- Associates's Degree preferred
Work Experience:
Previous experience working with children, particularly those with complex needs, is preferred.
Skills:
- Possess the philosophy that all children can learn when provided with individualized programming to meet their unique needs
- Ability to work with a team in a positive and collaborative way

Essential Job Functions:
- Establish positive working relationships with students and staff.
- Collaborate with the consultant team to provide support to LEAs.
- Provide individual support to students to increase independence, positive behavior and academic skills.
- Assist teams in developing functional behavior assessments and positive behavior support plans
- Model and coach effective instructional practices, behavior management and crisis intervention.
- Collect data to measure progress and intervention effectiveness.
- Maintain effective ongoing communication with others and participate in planning meetings.
- Keep others informed of location at all times.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and school information.
- Maintain service log.
- Follow through on assigned responsibilities within agreed upon time lines.
- Follow Van Buren ISD school policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Valid driver's license required.
Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
