What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Specialist- 2026-2027 POOL position at SPECIAL SERVICES?
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree;
- Texas Teacher Certification in Special Education; and
- Three (3) years experience teaching special education students with moderate to severe disabilities.
PREFERRED:
- Skills in working cooperatively with both regular and special education teachers in order to support students with behavior difficulties.
The role of the Behavior Specialist is to serve as an itinerate teacher on several elementary/secondary campuses to assist special education teachers with conducting functional behavioral assessments, developing, refining, and implementing behavior intervention plans. The Specialist is to make classroom observations to gather data to improve instruction, activities, and structure (classroom or student specific). The Specialist is responsible for modeling and working directly with students and teachers to improve behavior and academic skills.
