JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Occupational Therapy Paraprofessional
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or G.E.D.
2. Aptitude for the work to be performed
3. Work history of good attendance, dependability, and punctuality
4. Be able to drive to each school site on specified days
5. Ability to work effectively without close supervision
6. Ability to follow directions effectively
7. Effective communication skills with children and adults
8. Demonstrated computer skills appropriate for the position
9. Ability to pass the requisite assessment.
Alternative to the above qualifications as the Governing Board finds appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Occupational Therapist, Special Education Director, or others depending on the position.
WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Occupational Therapist, Special Education Director, classroom teachers, principals, office personnel
JOB GOAL: To assist in providing individualized therapy services to students who require additional support with their fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and their sensory needs in order for the students to be able to perform everyday tasks independently.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. 1. Maintains and respects confidentiality of all information acquired.
2. Prepares classroom activities under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
3. Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the Occupational Therapist or as identified through individualized assessments.
4. Assists individual students in need of special attention.
5. Assists in duties relating to supervision of student activities in any area on school campus where students are present as
assigned by the Occupational Therapist.
6. Assists Occupational Therapist with non-instructional duties such as snacks, toileting, or clothing routines as appropriate to
assigned position.
7. Operates office, audio/visual, and technology equipment.
8. Attends required professional development programs.
9. Performs all other duties as may be assigned for the benefit of
school programs.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School days and hours per year as designated in a one-year work agreement. Salary to be established with the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
Salary : $15 - $18
