Initial placement is dependent on education and experience and is pro-rated based on FTE.  Springfield Public Schools also offers a generous benefit plan. 

 

About the District

 

Springfield Public Schools is located in Springfield, Oregon, in the heart of the Willamette Valley, and serves 185 square miles of the city of Springfield and East/Central Lane County.  We are directly to the East of Eugene, where the University of Oregon is located.  We currently have approximately 10,000 students, over 1,500 staff members and over 600 teachers in our kindergarten through grade 12 school district.  Springfield Public Schools believes student success is our most important outcome.  The success of our students depends on the collective community coming together to support “Every Student, Every Day” throughout their K-12 education.

 

About the Position

 

Springfield Public Schools seeks outstanding candidates for positions of Part-Time (0.8 FTE) Speech & Language Pathologist.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Evaluate students to determine their eligibility for speech/language services;
  • Ability to plan and teach special individualized programs for students with communication disorders;
  • Ability to develop individualized educational plans (IEP’s) for all identified students;
  • Implement speech/language programs to meet IEP goals;
  • Monitor and report student performance and progress;
  • Experience working positively with students with communication disorders;
  • Strong student relationship building skills and the ability to establish a sound system of classroom routines and management;
  • Experience in working collaboratively and communicating effectively with general and special education teaching staff;
  • Complete required reports, IEPs and other forms promptly and in an acceptable manner;
  • Support and maintain school district policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of laws, rules, policies, and trends regarding special education;
  • Communicate clearly and appropriately verbally and in writing in accord with education standards;
  • Work successfully in a team setting; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability and commitment to practice cultural competency and demonstrate respect for diversity;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds that characterize a K-12 school community in a manner specific to the position;
  • Spanish bilingual preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A current, valid certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in Speech-Language Pathology;
  • A current, valid certification from the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
