Department: Athlete Development
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Supervises: Athlete Leadership Manager, Athlete Leadership Facilitator, Athlete Leadership Trainer
Primary Purpose: To collaborate with other athlete leadership positions to implement all athlete leadership initiatives and provide support for athlete leaders across the state. This will include assisting with the Global Messenger program and providing key support for the Athlete Leadership Council. This position will play an integral role in the development of athlete leadership in Special Olympics North Carolina.
Primary Duties:
* Work alongside the Athlete Leadership Manager role filled by an athlete leader to implement all programs.
* Assist with the scheduling of athlete leaders in various capacities.
* Serve as a mentor for the Athlete Leadership Council.
* Work with athlete leaders to develop and implement various trainings.
* Oversee the Athlete Ambassador program and further develop systems for tracking and recognition.
* Create strategies with the development department to fully incorporate athlete leaders into fundraising efforts.
* Collaborate with the communications department on the training and utilization of athlete public speakers through the Global Messenger program.
* Develop the Athlete Leadership University initiative.
* Maintain data associated with athlete leadership involvement.
* Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one year of experience in non-profit management preferred. Managerial experience with the ability to delegate effectively and communicate openly is beneficial. The ability to make decisions independently while collaborating with organizational leadership is essential. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to make presentations to groups as well as build one-on-one relationships within the community are required. Ability to possess/maintain valid NC driver’s license; Ability to travel as needed including
overnight travel. It is essential that this individual fully understands how to train and support to position athlete leaders to lead in all aspects.
ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $45,500 - $55,750
FLSA STATUS: This is an Exempt position.
