JOB SUMMARY 


The Director of Law Enforcement Torch Run oversees the implementation of Special Olympics Indiana (SOIN) biggest grassroots fundraising program – the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR). This role provides direction for the growth of the LETR initiatives, including oversight of program implementation, community engagement, volunteer management and a strong emphasis on fundraising and revenue generation. The Director will cultivate relationships with corporate sponsors, law enforcement agencies, and community leaders to drive participation and donations for LETR and Polar Plunge events. This position involves leading a team of volunteers, managing day-to-day operations, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve programmatic excellence, operational efficiency, and impact. Through effective leadership, innovation, and collaboration, the Director, LETR contributes to the overall success and sustainability of the organization.


PERFORMANCE DIMENSIONS AND TASKS (Time Spent)


1. Fundraising, Leadership and Strategy (50%)


· Develop and lead fundraising strategies for LETR programs to meet or exceed annual revenue goals.

· Cultivate and steward relationships with key donors, corporate sponsors, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to maximize financial support for LETR and Polar Plunge events.

· Oversee the solicitation and procurement of sponsorships, in-kind donations, and financial

· contributions to support fundraising events.

· Collaborate with Executive Leadership to identify new revenue opportunities and implement innovative fundraising tactics, including digital fundraising, peer-to-peer campaigns, and events.

· Monitor and report on fundraising performance, providing regular updates to leadership on progress towards revenue goals.

· Provides support and coordination for various LETR agency events, ensuring they are well-organized and achieve their objectives.


2. Program Implementation and Development (30%)


· Lead the implementation of LETR initiatives, ensuring alignment with SOIN’s mission and organizational goals.

· Identify, cultivate and retain new/current law enforcement departments and agencies for the LETR.

· Oversee the planning and execution of key events, including managing event logistics, vendor coordination, and ensuring compliance with fundraising and regulatory guidelines.

· Develop long-term growth strategies for LETR programs, identifying opportunities to expand events and increase participation across Indiana.

· Partner with law enforcement agencies to enhance their involvement in LETR activities and foster deeper engagement in fundraising efforts.

· Monitor program performance and outcomes, conducting regular evaluations and assessments to identify areas for improvement.

· Contribute to strategic planning and organizational development efforts, providing input, insights, and recommendations to executive leadership to inform decision-making and drive organizational growth and impact.


3. Community Engagement and Corporate Partnerships (20%)


· Represent SOIN at community events, meetings, and forums to promote LETR initiatives.

· Cultivate relationships with local businesses, schools, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations to foster participation and sponsorships for fundraising events.

· Engage with corporate partners to secure sponsorships and encourage employee involvement in LETR activities.

· Organize outreach events, workshops, and information sessions to build awareness and increase community support for LETR initiatives.


QUALIFICATIONS


- Education: Bachelor’s degree

- Experience: A proven track record of success in fundraising, special event planning, and volunteer management. Experience with law enforcement preferred, not required.

- Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, leadership, planning, networking, supervision

- Technology: Microsoft Windows - including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook


SPECIAL DEMANDS / OPPORTUNITIES


The employee fulfilling this role acknowledges that SOIN is their primary place of employment. During regular business hours, they are available for in-person meetings and events and virtual meetings and events and are available via email and phone with internal and external audiences.


Travel (in and out of state), evening and weekend work, some physical set-up of venues, networking with Special Olympics organizations across the country. In-service training provided.
