Position Summary: This is a full-time, exempt position responsible for managing SOAZ’s Unified Champion Schools (UCS) Team through the implementation of UCS strategies and school-based programs, including Youth-based Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership, Whole School Engagement, Educator Training, Young Athletes, special events, competitions, and other program initiatives as assigned. In addition, this position will take a lead role in grant administration and reporting, ensuring compliance and alignment with program deliverables. The role encompasses program development, event planning, and execution of outreach, recruitment, and retention strategies.

Program Implementation, Outreach, and Growth:
- Manages and provides strategic oversight for the Unified Champion Schools Team in the implementation and growth of UCS strategies and school-based programs and initiatives. This includes providing supervision and guidance to staff while driving alignment with organizational goals, ensuring high-quality program delivery, and fostering sustainable growth across all initiatives.
- Ensures effective oversight of grant deliverables, with responsibility for monitoring progress, completing reporting requirements, and communicating with funders.
- Develops, curates, and disseminates program resources, toolkits, and training materials that can be implemented statewide to support the growth and consistency of Unified Champion Schools initiatives.
- Attends all Unified Champion School grant-related webinars, training courses and distributes necessary information to appropriate staff.
- Leads the planning and execution of events, including educator and student conferences, trainings, and stakeholder engagements.
- Collaborates with programs and development staff to support outreach and SOAZ events (e.g., conferences, meetings, presentations, events, etc.) through preparation, promotion, and day-of assistance as assigned.
- Oversees all aspects of assigned training, special events, and programs (e.g., logistics, event collateral, preparation of contracts, and acquisition of supplies and equipment, event evaluation, etc.)
Administrative / Grants / Miscellaneous:
- Collaborates closely with programs, admin, finance, and development staff to support the collection of data points, outcomes, timelines, budgets, tracking, reporting, and financial fulfillment as needed for Unified Champion School programs to ensure outcomes are met, funds are expended appropriately, and grant requirements are fulfilled.
- Prepares all necessary reports and paperwork in a timely and legible fashion.
- Ensures compliance with Special Olympics guidelines, policies, and standards, SOI General Rules, and adheres to SOI/SONA Risk Management policies/practices at all levels to protect SOAZ and prevent loss.
- Maintains yearly inmate training certification.

Screening:
Must pass Criminal / National Sex Offender Registry background screening. (Required for all staff)
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in special education, nonprofit management, event management or related field. In lieu of a degree, four (4) or more years of relevant professional experience may suffice. Relevant experience includes work in the education field, grant reporting, advocacy and inclusion, event management, grant management, or nonprofit with demonstrated success in working with underserved populations. Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge in Special Education, Grant reporting, school-based programming and Unified Champion Schools is a plus. Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects with competing priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Detail oriented, self-motivated and comfortable working in a collaborative team environment. Public speaking and customer service skills are also required.
Physical Demands Include:
Working in confined spaces, working in extremes of heat, cold, and inclement weather. Moderate to heavy physical demands include lifting through full range (a minimum of 25 pounds), loading and unloading trucks and trailers, and lifting equipment and other merchandise. Equipment, truck, and trailer training will be provided, and reasonable accommodations can be made for physical demands.
Transportation & Travel:
In-state and out-of-state travel is required. Must have own reliable transportation, a valid AZ driver’s license, a good driving history, and fulfill assignments with reliability and punctuality.
Work Schedule:
This position’s work schedule will be determined by the demands of the position and can include 40 hour work weeks, evenings & weekends, as well as extensive in-state travel.
