For 70 years, Special Needs Cobb (SNC) has supported individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout Cobb County and the surrounding community.
Today, SNC provides safe, lifelong housing through 23 group homes, connects families with resources and services, and offers educational workshops designed to help families navigate the complexities of caring for a loved one with special needs.
We are a small, mission-driven team looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting & Finance Specialist to manage the organization’s day-to-day accounting functions and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.
What You’ll Do
The Accounting & Finance Specialist reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial recordkeeping of the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
· Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoices, payments, deposits and checks.
· Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are properly recorded in QuickBooks Online.
· Reconcile approximately 100 bank accounts each month associated with SNC’s organizational and residential operations.
· Maintain and update HUD subsidy and residential house balance records.
· Prepare biweekly payroll information for a staff of approximately seven; payroll is processed through an outside provider.
· Prepare monthly financial reports for the CEO and Board of Directors, including the Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Activities.
· Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes.
· Serve as the primary organizational liaison with SNC’s independent auditor and prepare requested documentation and reports.
· Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems and internal efficiencies.
· Maintain organized financial documentation and records.
· Provide occasional administrative support for SNC events and organizational activities.
· Perform other related duties as needed.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
· Bookkeeping, accounting or closely related experience.
· Demonstrated proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft 365, including Word, Outlook, and particularly Excel for spreadsheets, formulas, and financial data management.
· Strong overall technology skills with the ability to learn and adapt to new software, systems, and online platforms as needed.
· Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines and recurring financial processes independently.
· Ability to communicate financial information clearly to individuals who may not have an accounting background.
· Associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, business or a related field.
Preferred:
· Experience working in nonprofit accounting.
· Experience with HUD-funded housing, grants or other restricted funding.
· Experience supporting an annual financial audit.
Schedule & Compensation
· Full-time in-office position with flexibility between 32 and 40 hours per week.
· Salary range: $55,000 - 70,000, depending on experience, qualifications and agreed-upon weekly schedule.
