What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator of Special Education position at SPECIAL EDUCATION?
The Coordinator of Special Education provides oversight, assistance, and coordination of special education services and program supports.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates Special Education services and provides program support.
- Observes and provides growth producing feedback to teachers regarding instruction, student engagement, and classroom environment.
- Assists with caseload compliance.
- Provides support to schools in all aspects of administration and implementation of services.
- Provides instructional support and the development of professional learning for teachers and staff.
- Provides assistance and coordination of Manifestation Determination Review meetings.
- Responds to inquiries from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community.

Education and Experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s)
- Three (3) years of successful, full-time, teaching experience within a public school system and/or leadership experience within a school setting
Preferred
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education or Administration

Employment Terms: Employment is offered as an 12-month (243 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked daily. This position is evaluated annually.
