The Special Education Specialist is a full-time, on-site position located in Anchorage, AK. The specialist will provide tailored support to students with low incidence disabilities, collaborate with educators and families to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), and assist in applying evidence-based strategies to promote student success. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, offering professional development sessions for educators, and facilitating access to resources from SESA's lending library and specialized initiatives.
- Expertise in Special Education, including developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Proficiency in Applied Behavior Analysis and interventions for students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
- Strong Communication skills to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and other stakeholders.
- Experience in Education, particularly working with children across a range of disabilities.
- Understanding of and ability to effectively support students with low incidence disabilities, such as autism, visual or hearing impairments.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field is required; advanced certifications or training is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work on-site in a team setting.
