SUMMARY
This position reports directly to Operations Logistics Manager. The assistant Logistics supervisor is responsible to assist the team in all areas of the of material movement across Inflator/Initiators. Assists the logistics management team in all activities of assigned work groups to ensure that all personnel are adequately deployed, and team members are properly scheduled to achieve planned requirements. Works under limited supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Understanding of all company policies and procedures in order to effectively lead and direct the work of team members.
- Handle routine tasks with internal support groups and escalate unusual or high priority items.
- Maintain complete safety and environmental compliance with in the logistics team.
- Participate in the development of training programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and 5S housekeeping programs.
- Promote employee morale including support, communication, and education on Key Principles and Daicel Principles.
- Understand, balance and manage fundamental business goals – safety, quality, productivity, scrap, and downtime. The logistics team supports all of the business groups and need to provide a service to them safely and effectively.
- Take appropriate measures to ensure all daily tasks are complete to prevent downtime. Monitor the HOT list to ensure that items are prioritized accordingly to meet business needs.
- Coordinate and assign work schedules, making necessary adjustments to achieve daily requirements.
- Ensures that only trained personnel are appropriately assigned and develop training plans to ensure cross training.
- Ensure that all documentation is current, properly maintained, and properly utilized by applicable personnel.
- Ensure self-audits are performed. (safety observations, inspection sheets)
- Counsel employees to ensure that productivity objectives are met, and good employee relations are prevalent.
- Troubleshoot problems and assist in the corrective action to prevent same problem in the future.
- Proficient in SYSPRO/LPS and serve as a backup for Receiving for both SDI/DSSA and must be able to train others.
- Responsible for PM of Forklifts and Electric Carts
- Responsible for all gas needed for both DSSA/SDI from delivery to pick up including purchases Requisition and receipts.
- Responsible to conduct training on the Turret lift in building 5
- Will work with Buyers and account payable on hot issues.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum educational experience requires a High School Diploma. An Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in logistics or supply chain management or other technical related disciplines is preferred. Minimum experience includes five years in a high volume and logistics or related experience. Must possess problem solving, group presentation, effective meeting leadership and/or supervisory experience.

The individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in basic mathematics, Syspro (MRP), Microsoft Applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) with an emphasis on spreadsheet preparation, a working knowledge of World Class manufacturing concepts (i.e. KanBan, Constraint Management), a strong desire to work in a team environment, and excellent communication, motivational and organizational skills. This positions also requires the ability to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position which are written in English. In addition, the individual must be able to appropriately respond to these and, where needed, provide reports, presentations, information and communications in English. Must be available to work days, evenings, or weekends and overtime as required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret, policies, labor laws and federal regulations. Must be able to understand and apply Daicel documentation including SOP, MI, PS, PMP, MSP, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in Daicel manufacturing processes.
