What You’ll Do:
- Provide support and assistance in the delivery of direct patient care under the direction of the Urgent Care Provider
- Review and prepare patient chart for completeness of clinical information for the appointment ensuring appropriate diagnostic study/lab results for the exam are in the chart
- Prepare exam rooms as appropriate for each patient visit and clean exam rooms between each patient encounter
- Perform, document, and report vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height/weight, peak flow and oxygen saturation; orthostatic vital signs, and visual acuity
- Observe patient responses, review and enter patient information including medical history and medication list in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Report information, as appropriate, to the Paramedic and/or provider
- Prepare equipment and aid the RP or provider during treatment and examinations of patients
- Perform procedures (12-lead electrocardiograms, one touch glucose testing), obtain laboratory specimens not requiring invasive procedure, assist with dressings, splinting, casting, etc.
- Provide transport at discharge as requested
- Once certified, perform Chain of Custody (COC) urine collections and Blood Alcohol Testing (BAT) as indicated

Perform all duties associated with the role of Health Unit Coordinator:
- Register patients for services provided at MedCheck Urgent Care
- Verify demographic information and any other pertinent information with the patient
- Verify and record insurance eligibility
- Obtain required signatures on consent and other forms
- Scan all required forms, including insurance cards, authorizations, and consent forms into the EHR for the electronic legal record
- Special Considerations: Those working that are licensed as an LNA due to the scope of their licensure will not be allowed to administer medications.
What We’re Looking For:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a health care setting
- Must be a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or AMMA credentialed Medical Assistant (MA)
- MA/LNA/EMT: Must have current BLS certification (adult, child, and infant).
- Certification in COC and BAT within 6 months of hire
- Ability to respond appropriately to changing patient and staffing conditions. Demonstrated ability to seek guidance and/or support from appropriate resources. Knowledge of emergency medical treatment. Computer literacy. Ability to write clearly and concisely. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to give and accept feedback in a constructive manner.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a medical practice, urgent care or emergency department serving the same age/type of patient population.
