Field Application Scientist
Spear Bio is building out our high performing Field Application Support Team and looking for a dynamic, client-facing individual to perform customer training, workflow demonstrations, customer sample testing, technical applications development, and technical support of our immunoassay solution. The Field Application Scientist is expected to develop strong expertise in Spear Bio's ultrasensitive immunoassay platform and will troubleshoot cases in partnership with other Field Application Scientists and Technical Support Specialists. This role is based on-site in Woburn, MA, with ~40% travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities
- Support and train customers and scientists within Spear Bio and partner organizations on SPEAR UltraDetect™ technology and workflow.
- Drive successful adoption of the SPEAR platform by providing technical expertise for key customers through on-site product demos, training, collaborative projects, and support via e-mail/phone communication.
- Perform timely execution of client sample testing for platform evaluations or specific projects and present results to clients.
- Work cross-functionally to develop new applications for current products, generating data and authoring technical collateral including application notes and conference presentations.
- Improve processes for troubleshooting customer immunoassay challenges. Triage issues, develop hypotheses, perform experiments and investigations, and identify solutions to ensure optimal product performance.
- Track and address customer successes, inquiries, and complaints, to provide feedback for continuous improvement of products and technical support.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitors and key product applications.
- Work with Product Management to provide voice-of-customer feedback for product improvements and strategies that will drive adoption of Spear Bio products.
- PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or Bioengineering
- 2 years of hands-on bench and problem-solving experience specifically with immunoassays and instrumentation for biomarker analysis required
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to independently implement new technologies and troubleshoot instrument or assay performance issues.
- Experience with qPCR and liquid handling preferred
- Knowledge of neurodegenerative disease research with network in drug development, academic, or contract research world
- Ability to travel up to 40% (primarily East Coast, including overnights), with occasional international travel
- Strong commitment to customer success
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to put customers at ease and listen attentively to acquire feedback
- Experience conveying scientific information in a clear and concise manner through written documents and in-person presentations
- Ability to influence others, work collaboratively in teams, balance competing priorities, and adapt quickly to changes
