SEEKING
Equity actors for roles in SpeakEasy Stage Company's 2026-2027 (see breakdown).
For pre-cast roles, auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary.
PREPARATION
Actors may sing short cuts of one or two songs, read one or more scenes from the season’s plays, perform one or two monologues, or prepare a combination of scene(s) and monologues(s) from other sources of their preference. An accompanist and some material from the scripts will be available at the auditions. There will not be a reader at the audition. To be considered for both musicals and non-musicals, SpeakEasy recommends one contemporary monologue and one 16-bar cut of a contemporary song.

CELIA - 18 to play 16, strong singer, mix/belt. Always in Rosalind’s shadow. Speaks directly to the audience.
HERMIA - 18 to play 17, mezzo. Small and feisty.
HELENA - 18 to play 17, soprano. Tall and a bit of a drama queen.
OPHELIA - 18 to play 16, soprano. Terribly damaged. Really needs a friend.
JULIET - 18 to play 13, strong belt. Impulsive, passionate, and ready for a fight.
VIOLA/CESARIO - (they/them) 18 to play 17, strong singer, mix/belt. Smart and funny, but lonely. Searching for who they are and where they belong. Speaks directly to the audience.
DEMETRIUS - baritenor. Tries to be macho.
LYSANDER - baritenor. A little slow on the up-take.
THE THREE WITCHES — Three fabulous, older beings who know the ways of the world.
HAZEL - mezzo. Imperious.
ASPEN - strong belt. Sassy.
MYRTLE - soprano. Sweet and anxious. A romantic.

SEEKING:
ROJA - 18 to play fourteen-year-old. Mexican girl who is dealing with the loss of her father.
MAMÁ - Roja’s mother. She is solely responsible for tending the family farm after her husband has passed. Three years after the loss of her husband, she is still stricken with grief.
COYOTE - The shape-shifting god of music, dancing, and mischief. Often depicted with a mustache in human form. A mixture of charro, norteño, and mariachi. (Doubles as PAPA)
DON SECO – The wealthy landowner who has allowed the Flores family to work the land since Roja was born.
MAN – Doubles as CROW 1 and 3, CAMPESINO 1. CROW is the spirit of logic and wisdom. They are a legion of thousands in the form of only one.
LA SEÑORA DE LOS HUESOS - The queen of the underworld. (Doubles as CROW 2 and 4)
