What you will do
As a Backend Developer, your main focus will be building and improving the core API that powers our platform.
This API is the backbone of Speakap and is used by our web frontend, mobile applications, and third-party integrations.
You will:
Design and develop backend services that are scalable, secure, and maintainable
Work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver new features
Improve existing functionality and system performance
Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction
Ensure reliability and security across our platform
Help evolve our backend ecosystem as we continue to scale
What you bring
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who enjoys building robust systems and working in a collaborative environment.
5 years of experience building backend systems or APIs, with experience in modern frameworks such as Symfony or Laravel, and familiarity with Python. You are comfortable working with PHP, even if it’s not your primary language.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and clean code, with experience building scalable systems or high-traffic platforms.
Experience with relational databases (MySQL or MariaDB), Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines, and a strong focus on automated testing and quality-driven development.
Nice to have: Experience with AWS services (such as S3, SQS, or Lambda), modern JavaScript/TypeScript, or technologies like Redis, Elasticsearch, and messaging systems, as well as experience working in agile teams.
Most importantly, you are curious, pragmatic, and enjoy solving real-world engineering challenges together with your team.
