Join our team at SPEAK MPLS, a member-powered media center and home to Minneapolis public access TV channels 16, 17, and 75 on Comcast and streaming online. We’re reimagining the future of media through community connections and creative opportunities, and we’re hiring a Member Experience Manager to lead member engagement and support daily media center operations.
This role is at the heart of the SPEAK MPLS member experience, serving as a welcoming, responsive and organized point of connection for members, visitors, and the public. The ideal candidate is adaptable, collaborative, and enjoys working with a wide range of people, with the ability to keep operations running smoothly in a dynamic community media environment. You’ll help members navigate the media center, connect with creative opportunities, and feel supported as part of an active community of storytellers, producers, and neighbors. While familiarity with media production or studio environments is helpful, this role is primarily focused on administration, coordination, communication, and strengthening the SPEAK MPLS creative community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration
- Serve as a primary point of contact for members and the public, creating an approachable and people-centered introduction to the SPEAK MPLS creative community through phone, email, in-person support, and studio tours.
- Lead daily media center operations including studio scheduling, equipment bookings, inventory systems, ordering and restocking supplies, and maintaining an organized and accessible environment for all members and guests.
- Manage the CRM and member administration systems, including account management, contracts, invoices, communication workflows, inventory tracking, barcode checkout systems, and periodic reporting on equipment and studio usage.
Member Engagement
- Lead the member experience from registration and onboarding through orientations and ongoing support, helping members set goals, understand policies, connect with resources, and fully utilize SPEAK MPLS membership benefits and opportunities.
- Support members in accessing studios and equipment during studio access hours, working with our creative team to provide basic technical assistance and troubleshooting in a DIY studio environment.
- Lead in-person and digital member engagement efforts including member events, surveys, outreach, and management of the online member portal and discussion board to strengthen connections across the SPEAK MPLS creative community.
- Track membership engagement, participation, and retention goals through reporting, surveys, and ongoing communication, helping identify opportunities to strengthen the overall member experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–4 years of experience in administration, member services, customer service, operations, or community-facing roles, with strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain organized systems, and respond professionally in a fast-paced, community-centered environment.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds, personalities, and experience levels.
- Experience with CRM systems, Google Workspace, Slack, and other administrative or communication platforms.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on responsibilities while maintaining clear communication with the team.
- Experience with media production, creative communities, studios, or community media environments is helpful, but not required.
HOURS & COMPENSATION
This is a full-time position (approximately 40 hours per week) at $25/hour. This role is fully in-person, and the ideal candidate will have flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays as needed. Employees receive paid time off, paid holidays, a monthly health care stipend, and a SPEAK MPLS membership.
