Description

JOB SUMMARY: Are you a knowledgeable, people-focused HR professional who enjoys being a trusted resource for employees and supervisors? SPCC is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day Human Resources operations and provide first-line guidance across employee relations, performance management, recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, payroll, benefits, leave administration, HR systems, training, compliance, and employee support. This role works closely with the Senior Director of Human Resources & Humanity Centered Care to respond to employee needs, support consistent and compliant HR practices, and strengthen the overall employee experience. The position offers the opportunity to apply broad HR knowledge in a mission-driven organization while building strong relationships and helping supervisors and employees navigate workplace matters effectively.

Responsibilities Include

  • Serves as a first-line HR resource for employees and supervisors, responding to routine HR questions, providing guidance, and escalating complex or sensitive matters appropriately.
  • Provides first-line employee relations support, including receiving and documenting concerns, assisting with workplace issue resolution, conducting initial fact-gathering as directed, and escalating matters requiring additional review.
  • Administers biweekly payroll and timekeeping operations including reviewing information for accuracy, resolving routine discrepancies, maintaining system integrity, and coordinating corrections as needed.
  • Supports performance management processes, including performance discussions, corrective action, performance improvement plans, documentation, follow-up, and coaching support for supervisors.
  • Partners with supervisors and the Senior Director of Human Resources to promote consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.
  • Coordinates recruitment and pre-employment processes, including but not limited to job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, reference and pre-employment checks, offer preparation, and onboarding preparation.
  • Leads onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring required documentation, communications, system access, and procedures are completed accurately and timely.
  • Administers employee benefits and retirement processes, including enrollments, qualifying life events, employee support, vendor coordination, reconciliations, and open enrollment activities.
  • Coordinates employee leave and accommodation processes, including documentation, tracking, employee communication, reporting, and coordination with applicable vendors and internal partners.
  • Maintains HRIS data, personnel records, and HR documentation accurately and confidentially, and prepares routine reports and data for HR operations, compliance, audits, and decision-making.
  • Supports the development, coordination, administration, and tracking of employee training and professional development, including required compliance training and training resources.
  • Assists with HR compliance activities, including required postings, recordkeeping, audits, policy implementation, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assists with HR projects, policy updates, process improvements, employee communications, and initiatives that support organizational effectiveness and a positive employee experience.
  • Maintains current knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, regulations, and HR technology, and applies this knowledge to day-to-day HR support.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of employment-related laws, regulations, and HR practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and HR technology systems; experience with Paylocity preferred.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and manage confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to support training, employee development, and performance management processes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to humanity centered care work and delivering services within a trauma-informed and equitable lens.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. A combination of relevant education, professional experience, and demonstrated competencies may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including experience supporting employee relations, performance management, recruitment, benefits, HR systems, payroll, compliance, and employee support.
  • Experience providing HR guidance to employees and supervisors and handling confidential or sensitive workplace matters.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms required; Paylocity experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
