Director of Human Resources

The SPCA of Wake County in Raleigh, NC seeks a high-level, strategic, and experienced Human Resources leader to guide the development of a formal HR department in a dynamic and rapidly expanding organization with 77 employees.


The Director of Human Resources works closely with the executive team, department leaders, and employee groups to foster a supportive, collaborative, and solutions-focused HR department that supports a high-performing workplace where all employees feel valued.

Required qualifications include:

  • 8 years of progressive HR experience; with a minimum of three years in a key leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (master’s degree or MBA preferred).
  • Demonstrated success in strategic HR planning, execution, and growth.
  • Proven track record of partnering with senior leadership and fostering a collaborative workplace environment.
  • Deep knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Highly effective communicator with the ability to explain policies, mediate conflict, and influence outcomes with diplomacy and care.
  • Demonstrated skill in building trust and partnerships across departments and work groups.
  • Experience in HR systems, policies, data reporting tools, and MS Office Suite

Salary Range: $81,000 – $87,000
